6.3 Engage with colleagues and improve practice
'Alex attended a number of classes within his discipline and outside of his expected practices to view good teachers inspiring those in their charge. He was comfortable discussing relevant approaches and applied this in his own practice. I was really impressed with the way he did this without prompting and a number of the teachers not only supported his requests but encouraged him further' (Gleeson Report).
'Alex was comfortable engaging in professional and personal conversations with his peers' (Gleeson Report).
As a young teacher I believe the best way to learn and improve is by learning from the people that have been educating young people for longer than I have, which is just about any period of time at all. This included observing as many lessons as I could, both within my disciplines and outside to observe as many different teachers and methods as I could. I always tried to discuss what I saw with the teachers after in order to clarify and cement the learning I had just done through observation.
