3.3 Use teaching strategies
'Alex was guided in using strategies and appropriate resources to implement effective teaching practices' (VHHS Report).
'He also worked on developing class room strategies (Use of PowerPoints, Youtube Clips, questioning for understanding, using paddle pop sticks) to keep students focussed on learning' (VHHS Report).
I was fortunate enough to work with a number of great mentors that helped me devise and implement a variety of teaching and learning strategies throughout my placements. One strategy I particularly like is to encourage some self-guided research in order to learn new information. This also encourages development of research skills.
One way I did this was to use a 'fill in the table' activity that students were required to research to find out relevant information on Japanese religions for our topic on Feudal Japan. This activity can be viewed below.
