4.5 Use ICT safely, responsibly and ethically

As a result of the learning management systems in place at both schools, the students operated heavily in an online world. It was important to embrace this to provide the best possible learning options and outcomes for these students. It was also crucial to ensure every student had access to these learning platforms and knew how to use them safely and effectively. I was able to teach a media unit to year 8s at VHHS in which we discussed Social Media. This was a discussion based heavily around safety, responsibility and ethics.
ICT meant I could adapt lessons and activities to help the NEP students at Gleeson College. For example one student, instead of catching up on reading an entire book, was able to research the novel to learn about the plot, characters and messages throughout the novel.
